Description

RoboCupJunior International 2025

The RoboCupJunior International is a premier robotics competition that serves as the culmination of regional and super-regional tournaments. It is an opportunity for young robotics enthusiasts, aged 14–19, to showcase their technical, creative, and problem-solving skills in a global arena.

Date and Location

Dates: July 15–21, 2025

Venue: Salvador, Brazil

Competition Categories

  1. Rescue League
    • Robots simulate disaster scenarios, including navigating complex terrain, locating, and “rescuing” victims.
    • Subcategories: Rescue Line (basic line-following and object rescue) and Rescue Maze (advanced navigation in a maze).
  2. Soccer League
    • Autonomous robots compete in two-on-two matches, tracking a light-emitting ball and navigating the field.
    • Subcategories: Lightweight Soccer and Open Soccer.
  3. OnStage League
    • Creative performances where robots interact with music, costumes, and choreography.
    • Encourages creativity alongside engineering and programming skills.

Eligibility

  • Age Group: Participants must be aged 14 to 19 (as of July 1, 2025).
  • Team Size:
    • Minimum: 2 members.
    • Maximum:
      • Rescue and Soccer Leagues: 4 members.
      • OnStage League: 5 members.
  • Technical Roles: Each team member must have a defined technical role and be prepared to explain their contributions during technical judging.

Technical and Safety Guidelines

  1. Robot Communication
    • Allowed within the 2.4GHz spectrum, with a maximum power output of 100 mW EIRP.
    • Teams must ensure communication compliance and manage potential interference.
  2. Power and Safety
    • Maximum voltage: 48V DC or 25V AC RMS.
    • Lithium batteries must be stored and charged in safety bags, with supervised charging.
    • Robots must adhere to mechanical safety standards, avoiding sharp edges or hazardous designs.
  3. Plagiarism and Originality
    • Teams may use external libraries (e.g., OpenCV) but must credit creators.
    • Complete solutions from others are not permitted without proper acknowledgment.
  4. Bill of Materials (BOM)
    • A detailed list of all components and materials must be submitted, specifying their source, cost, and whether they are new or reused.

Documentation Requirements

  1. Team Posters
    • A1 size (60 x 84 cm), summarizing the robot’s design and capabilities for judges, participants, and the public.
  2. Technical Description Video
    • Demonstrates robot functionality, design process, and innovation.
    • Videos must meet league-specific submission guidelines.
  3. Resource Sharing
    • Submitted materials will be shared on the RoboCupJunior GitHub repository to promote knowledge sharing.

Why Participate?

  • Learning-Focused: Prioritizes hands-on STEM education and teamwork over competition.
  • Inclusive Challenges: Offers engaging, scaffolded challenges, making robotics accessible and rewarding.
  • Global Network: Connects participants to a worldwide robotics community and future opportunities in RoboCup.
  • Skill Development: Encourages autonomy, creativity, and problem-solving.
